ADAMS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Dear Students and Families,admas_elementary

What a great beginning of the year we have had!!  Students are doing a wonderful job following procedures and listening to staff. We have loved getting to know your children and spending time with them.  I also want to thank you for being proactive by writing your child’s name in the Book Bags and Lunch Box’s.  This is a tremendous help when a student picks up the wrong book bag because “it looks just like his!”  If items do get misplaced in the future, please do not hesitate to send a note or give us a call.  We also have a Lost and Found box directly inside the front doors.

We would like to welcome the following staff to Adams School!

Mrs. Goehl – Kindergarten Teacher
Mrs. Helmer – Cafeteria Supervisor
Mrs, Miller – Speech and Language Pathologist
Mrs. Spohr – 2nd Grade Teacher
Mrs. Stegeman – Cross Categorical Teacher

Early Pick Up

If you need to pick up your child early from school for a scheduled appointment or other valid reason, please report to the office to check out your child through Mrs. Ridder and state your reason for our records.  Attendance is reported to the state and reasons for non attendance will be required.  Mrs. Ridder may give you a pass to take down to the classroom or call down to the classroom to have your child sent up to the office.  Our goal is to have as little disruption as possible for the classrooms.  Despite our best efforts, students become distracted and off-task when visitors arrive to the room.  This interferes with instruction and with end of the day routines, such as getting students safely to their transportation

Communication Through School Reach

We are finding that regardless of our many efforts to send home multiple notes of communication, we are still flooded with phone calls about special events.  Every parent should, at the very least, receive a weekly newsletter from their child’s teacher, a monthly newsletter from the office and a copy of the Adams School student handbook.  These three forms of communication have the yearly calendar and/or upcoming events listed.  If there should be a change in a date or time of an event, it will be pointed out in the school newsletter or your teacher’s newsletter. We have decided instead of a 4th reminder being sent home the day before a special event we will be using the district’s “School Reach” automated system to send out a message per your phone.  In order for this to help, please make sure if your contact information changes, you call the office and give Mrs. Ridder the correct information to put into the system.  Using School Reach will be more efficient in reaching our families and save time and money.
