FOOD SERVICE EMPLOYEES RECOGNIZED

At  the 11-15-06  Board meeting, food service employees were recognized for their essential role in the district’s operation.  Public Relations Director Christie Dickens stated that food service employees are a positive part of a child’s school experience. All food service employees were recognized and applauded for their hard work and dedication. Dewey staff members performed a song written by Vicki Mallory and Marty Rubottom to honor QPS “Lunch Ladies.”

On any given day, over 5,000 lunches  and 1,800 breakfasts are served to students.  Snacks are provided for after school programs at Junior High and Irving.  Catering is also provided for administrative and sporting events.

THE QPS food service program follows USDA guidelines to insure all meals meet the nutritional needs of students.  The guidelines require students to receive 25% of their recommended daily requirements at breakfast and 30% at lunch.  The cafeteria staff must meet the challenge daily to provide tasty, nutritious meals that appeal to the students.

Thank you, food service employees, for

being a favorite part of

our day!
