QPS Teacher Mentor Project Goals:

  1. To develop new teachers’ understanding and implementation of the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards and the relevant Content Area Standards

  2. To develop in new teachers a repertoire of effective, research-based instructional practices

  3. To develop trusting, supportive and collegial professional relationships and networks

  4. To develop reflective, analytical and self-assessment skills in new teachers

  5. To create an effective, efficient and smooth transition as new teachers transition from being “students” to being “professionals”

  6. To improve and maximize student learning and achievement
