REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE REQUESTS

Support:  If you experience difficulty with technology, please follow these guidelines:

1. You may check the following web sites for answers to technical questions: 

        Hardware & Software:             myhelpdesk.com, support.microsoft.com

        Virus Hoaxes & other Myths:   symantec.com, kumite.com/myths/

2. Fill out a Technology Help Request form.  The following individuals will assess the problem and contact the Technology Office if necessary:

  • K – 3 Buildings   Contact your principal, District Technology Committee Rep, or your Software Manager
  • Baldwin                 Contact Jody Cooper               223-8700 ext. 248
  • QJHS                     Contact Main Office
  • QHS & QAVTC   Contact Janet Kurjanski           ext 121

3. In an emergency contact the Technology Helpdesk at 224-3770 ext 121

4. Information on maintenance and new computers are available from the Technology Office.

If it becomes necessary to reinstall all software, technicians will restore the computer to its original state minus approved software that has been installed later.  Since all hard drive information would be lost during this process, it is essential for teachers to retain the installation disks and maintain data backup of their files.

DECIDING PRIORITIES

TODAY PRIORITY:

  1.  Administrative & secretarial – it is critical for today

  2. The network is down

  3. The Internet is down

  4. Classroom – support is needed for today’s classroom project (such as, printer is not working)

A PRIORITY:

  1. Classroom or lab networking issue – It is essential to instruction

  2. Administrative & secretarial – it is not needed today

  3. Classroom (stand alone computer) – essential to instruction or management

  4. Back ups

  5. Installation of new hardware or costly software

B PRIORITY:

  1. Classroom – Non-essential to the instruction or management but would enhance the program

  2. Installation of minor hardware or software

C PRIORITY:

  1. Maintenance and cleaning

  2. Other projects

 Problems with disk space usage

Space limitations:

Students and staff are limited to server storage space. Exceeding your quota for a long time will cause you to have problems with profile and the ability to store files on the servers. Students can store 15Mb and staff can store 25Mb of files on their H: drive.

To clean your files:

  1. Go to My Computer
  2. Drive H:
  3. Press simultaneously “CTRL” + “A”
  4. Once all files and folders are highlighted press “ALT” + “ENTER”
  5. Under size you will see the amount of space you are utilizing
Delete any files that you are not using for school work
