On December 3, 2012, Governor Pat Quinn signed Senate Bill 3338 which changes the final date for filing petitions from December 24 to December 26. This provides local governments more flexibility to accept petitions. Many local election authorities are traditionally closed on December 24, potentially hindering timely petition filing or resulting in additional unplanned expenses to local authorities.
The filing period for Quincy Board of Education candidates begins at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17 at the Board of Education Office, 1416 Maine Street. Offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 24 and 25 for the holiday. The last day to file petitions is Wednesday, December 26 from 8:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Objections to nominating papers must be filed within 5 business days of the last day of filing. Offices are closed December 31 and January 1. Therefore, the last day to file objections is Friday, January 4, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Board of Education Office.
