About Teaching & Learning

Providing leadership and support to our teachers, administrators and support staff is at the heart of the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. The focus of our work encompasses four areas:

  • Ensuring a guaranteed, viable and standards-aligned curriculum is in place district-wide, across grade levels and content areas so all students have an equal opportunity to learn.
  • Coordinating professional development for teachers and staff to support professional growth, innovative instructional practice, and collaboration.
  • Overseeing the execution of federal and state grants that support areas related to the support of curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development, family engagement, and 21st Century learning.
  • Monitoring MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support), a framework for continuous improvement that is systemic, prevention focused, responsive, and data-informed, to ensure all students receive the support they need to be successful in school.

Focusing on the areas above, the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment is committed to building a pathway of success for students in grades Pre-K through 12 to help ensure they have the skills needed to be college, career and life ready upon graduation.
